 Terrible sea scallops

I?ve been for over 5 years. today i order 10 sea scallops it was the worst i?ve ever had tasted like rubber no roe. a five cent coin was bigger then the scallop and i paid $30 for it. i complained to the store they didn?t bother to do anything about it. i will not be coming back again ??

 Amazing experience

Weekend away from canberra , visited huskison with the family and the atmosphere was amazing , the local fish shop had displayed a maco shark for the people to interact, the service there was exceptinal making you feel write at home , the food was so fresh and there local fish was what impressed us. thank you for giving my kids a experiance they never will forget.

We ate here back in july, so cannot remember the details of what we ordered but i do remember that the fish meals we all ordered were very tasty, including the chips. i can't wait to go back.

An insult to the definition of "fish"

We just finished fishing at jervis bay (didn't get anything), when my kids and i were starving. we couldn't think of a better place to eat than fish and chips by the sea.
the notion of world famous, and award winning was particularly appealing to me, so i knew that i had to try this.
we ordered 2 flatheads and "homemade" chips, and me and my wife ordered 2 baramundis. we even ordered an extra serving of chips. a seemingly friendly lad told us it was going to be a 55 minute wait, but we happily agreed; after all, great food doesn't come in the blink of an eye.
our food then came, and my kids were beyond starving. they sunk their teeth into what appeared to be a block of grease, as i saw ooze drip from the revolting figure, which i discovered to actually be the fish.
within 20 seconds, my kids expressed that they weren't so hungry anymore. for the shop to even define it as fish was horrendous. we ended up throwing the whole thing away and looked for a more suitable place.
to even give them 1 star is an overrating, but unfortunately it's the lowest it can go.

I took my family to huskisson yesterday for a local fish and chips lunch. world famous looked like it might be the place so we placed an order for some fisherman's baskets. that was the worst decision we made all day!! not only were they totally overpriced, the baskets were so full of oil that the "homemade:"chips were nothing more than deep fried soggy, mashed potato. the fish and other items were also dripping with oil and equally disgusting. a result of using old oil and not maintaining the correct cooking temperature. i know because i owned a take away business. my wife actually vomited shortly after eating and i threw most of mine in the bin. i will never recommend this place to anyone. in fact there should be a sign at the front of this shop with a warning. "eat here at your own risk".

Reading the below comments is a shock , the feedback i have is second to none . we come down for the canberra long weekend. where do you go where you get fresh fish and have it chosen write infront of your eyes, not to mention the service , yes myfamily and i waited 30 minuites , however we were given a choice and what impressed us , they offered and gave our children some homemade chips, whilst we waited free of charge as my little one was hungry. we were greeted with such lovely manner from a young gentlem wich looked to be part of the family buisness. being a tourist and getting the over and above service was definately worth my while writing a review . will definately go back. food was sensational.

Famous for what?

We arrived with great anticipation, world famous fish and chips by the sea what could be better? practically anything! i should have twigged when i saw the tatty hand written sign declaring that "we don't do fast food, just good food" and the instruction to take only one napkin per person. we were greeted, if you can call it that by a monosyllabic youth with a vacant scare. who informed us that there would be a 35 minute wait. well, we thought for world famous fish and chips one could expect to wait. after hanging around on the street in what passes for a "dinning area" for 55 minutes our food; for want of a better name, was ready. what complete rubbish! in my younger more confrontational days i would have taken it back and thrown it over the counter. a mean serving of cold fat saturated potatoes, i won't call them chips and dry overcooked stuff that apparently was supposed to be fish. this business has had it too easy for too long. they don't give a crap about the product or the customer, because they'll be another fool from out of town to rip off arriving shortly.

World famous fish and chips...... must be a really small world these business owners live in. my family and i had the displeasure of ordering some of the so called "world famous" fare.
were told it would be a 40 min wait for our food.... 40 min to deep fry food is a bit of a joke, at first maybe i thought they were going to confit the food in the deep fryer but no... they were "busy"
after what seemed like 1hr we finally received our food.
the grilled swordfish looked like a piece of cardboard and had the colour of murky dishwashing water, the snapper was under cooked and the flat head pieces were oily. and tot top it off the chips looked liked they had been cooking for the whole 1hr we waited for our food.
to their credit they did provide us with a bandaid for a stubbed toe but for $60 you think they would of chucked in a foot rub.
avoid at all costs.

I would give them 1 star if it was an option. worst take away experience ever and first review i have ever written but felt people needed to be warned. waited 70 mins for food i didn't want to eat. left most of the oily mess of food that didn't eat the obviously old chips. how hard is it to throw some fish and chips into a deep fat fryer. the claim of winning an award is either fake or was won by another chef.

We were told it would take 25 minutes, but after over half an hour later when we asked to cancel our order we were told it was being cooked. another half an hour later we finally received our order of grilled barramundi and salt and pepper squid with chips. we have never seen chips like it (brown, soggy and oily) squid with so much batter and chocolate brown in colour and fish that looked like it was covered in oil - so much for grilled. it was so awful we threw the lot away.

Definately worth the trip

My family and i were told to go try fish and chips at husky as it was to die for, after a 2 half hour trip from sydney we stopped over at worlds famous fish and chips and firstly we couldnt believe the price for fresh fish and the whole concept of choosing your fresh fish and having it cooked fresh, yes the weight was longer than a normal takeaway but it was well worth it, we ordered barra and chips and flathead , was sensational , the service was great , we would definately go back again.

World famous for all the wrong reasons

Ordered 2 small serves of flathead and chips just before 6pm on 21oct10 from a surly & rude female and a confused young male. we could not have snapper as it had been 'packed away'. the young chap wandered around the shop with what appeared to be pieces of rope but were actually fileted flathead that were retrieved from the back of the shop. these were placed in a grille that appeared to be initially cold and stayed put the best part of 20 minutes. needless to say, the fish tasted stale, rubbery and completely dried out. so much for 'fresh off the boat'. the chips had the texture and taste of cardboard. after being charged $30 for this fare and a bottle of water and a soft drink, the young chap asked for another $1 without explanation, deposited the $2 coin given to him and ignored the fact that change was due. frankly, this business scores no stars for all categories except the price. recommend you stay away from this establishment.

Unbelievable quality

Went with the family over the weekend and ordered crumbed flathead and chips. all i can say is that it was one of the best serves of fish and chips that i have ever had, and i have had a few!!!!!! the scenery of jervis bay is spectacular as well. i will be going back for a feed if it is the last thing i do. owner lawrence went out of his way to give us the run down of the area which helped us greatly.
