Best coffee, arrogant barrista
I agree with harry and anon, there is a certain barista there who has a terrible attitude,he's the same in the surf, since when did rudeness become cool? on the other hand the food is great though a little expensive. the chicken and pesto focaccia is awesome, the burgers great and the egg and bacon rolls to die for after a surf. a pity that everything comes in packaging, even the coffee.

Best coffee in byron bay!
Leaving melbourne for 2 weeks, i was worried i wouldn't have a good coffee until i came home. surprisingly i stumbled across the top shop on my second day in byron, and was so impressed with the single origin coffee they were serving along with the fresh and delicious breakfast rolls and burgers. located just out of town, it made it easy to swing past on the way to the beach. staff were super friendly. can't wait to return!

Attitudes disappoint this local
I agree with anonymous(5/4/11). this local has picked up on attitudes and rarely frequents it anymore. the owner is great. the coffee is great,. the food is great. sadly, the indie barista is less so. i'm just not prepared to wear the indie clothes to get the good vibe so sadly i go elsewhere for worse coffee.

You're children's future.
A cafe that promotes parents and children consuming coffee and good food is great. however, promoting everything in packaging is crap. you can only buy stuff in packaging, even if you want to stay there. we already have a strange thing going on where kids can't drink anything at all without a straw which will be here forevever, we buy throw away nappies. we don't need packaging. a zillion mums getting takeaway coffees can make a difference. teach your kids to not need packaging. we survived fifty million years without straws and takeaway babychinos, we can go a couple more. don't encourage it. sorry, but that is what this cafe is about!

Attitude & price - neither great
After visiting the top shop several times it was only recently i experienced poor customer connection and how expensive the coffee is. may have been that much all along and the service has matched it, not sure, but no longer i'm afraid. out of 5 staff, not one acknowledged me and two served three customers who had walked in ahead of me. i noticed that locals seem to get table service and unknowns do not so perhaps these people were locals - even worse if this was the case. businesses that do not grow themselves die. finally, $4.50 for a t/a coffee is extremely expensive. if they want to charge these prices, attitudes will need to remain in check as eventually even the locals will pick up on it.
