My family have been to the turban, and its sister restaurant, the agni, many, many times over the past three years since we discovered it for the buffet. the service can be a bit slow at times, but no worse than some other restaurants we've been to. the staff are always friendly and hospitable and will do what they can to make you comfortable.
depending on the chef, the vindaloo can be the best you can ask for - just be sure to have plenty of raita or milk on hand. and tissues.
the dahl is just superb, and being indian food it is mostly all gluten free naturally - you might need to ask on a few of the deserts, but as a coeliac i've never had a problem so far. a pity they can't make gluten-free naan breads. most of the curries are not hot at all, and very suitable for children. and of course, the deserts and fresh fruit seem to make up most of the meal for the younger ones.
the atmosphere of the turban is very cosy and more intimate than the agni which is more upper class, but the standard of food - both quality and quantity - is very good at both of them. i'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates a selection of good indian food at a very reasonable price.

Buffet experience
|
I attended the friday night buffet and was told that i could only have 45mins as they were fully booked. i accepted and saw at least 3-5 tables empty for the entire time i was there. the food was nice, the naan bread was excellent but they were slow to refill trays as they became empty. the pricing is good but i would advise to byo drinks as the glasses are small. it is family friendly but i prefer not to have children at a buffet.
