 Fantastic food by the sea in lorne

I have to tell everyone about a great little place in lorne on the great ocean road called the salty dog fish and chippery. we took friends who were visiting from canada and they wanted to try some aussie fish and chips.
the staff at the salty dog were patient and friendly and helped us choose the best selection of seafood for us and our guests. they heated our babies food without a second glance and bought it out to our table to check if it was ok.
i had a chicken souva' and yep it wasnt the traditional type but the chicken snitzel was tasty and it come with this fantastic macadamia satay sauce.....it got 10 out of 10 from me and my canadian friends who tried it as well.
the batter on the fish was light and not oily and the seafood was fresh and very yummy.
definately worth the 2 hours drive from melbourne and something we will do more often.
thanks to the crew at salty dog for everything.

 Poor lorne!

Worst souvlaki i've ever had. not only did they not have any lamb but when the chicken souva i did order arrived the chicken happened to be a crumbed schnitzel cut up to fit into the pita bread. the supposed 'garlic sauce' was like nothing else i've ever tasted, tatziki it was not. suffice to say i will never return and i can't say too much about any of the other food i was served up in lorne during my stay, welcome to yuppie town!

I wanted to tell people about the wonderful experiences my family and i had at the salty dog. after visiting this establishment my family and i returned every day. we found the staff friendly, helpful, efficient and happy. the food was up there with some of the best i have eaten. the fish was fresh, the burgers so tasty. i would highly recommend the salty dog to anyone who visits lorne. thanks guys. we will be back to the salty dog very very soon.
