Beautiful meals

I have been to the star a few times and every time i have been either as a couple or in a group we have had a amazing meals. tried a number of dishes and been very happy with everyone of them. staff have been good, meals have been delivered promptly even when i've been in a group.

We used to love star of siam, but recently have been very disappointed by our 'favourite dishes'. it has a good central location and nice atmosphere, but the food just isn't as good as it once was.

Judging by mixed review, i wasn't expecting a lot but it was the only thai restaurant in the city, i went along any way. we were impressed by the prompt service and the quality of the food. the meal was delicious and we loved the curry and the seafood. we went back again for the second time and we were equally impressed. just one caution, if you are not used to having spicy or hot food, just choose the mild version. highly recommended.

Star of siam is an excellent place, i think that the hari review below is a fake as there is no hotel anywhere near star of siam. i have a sneaking suspicion hari is from a rival restaurant in launceston.

I have been to star of siam many times over the years, and on my recent trip home went again with a regular group. the service is sometimes a bit touch and go, (such as forget to bring out drinks you've ordered, but they have never minded a reminder of this) but the food is still delish, and you get plenty of it. the prices seem to have gone up a bit in the past few months, making them more expensive that their counterparts, but i will always go back just for the yummy vego spring rolls!

I'm a local & star of siam is my favourite restaurant at the moment. we don't go out much 'cause most of the "affordable" restaurants are terrible. we tried star of siam & were pleasantly surprised. the food is delicious. the serves are a bit small but the food makes up for it. the service is great although i think the waiter we had last time was about 12 years old!! oh well it's most likely a family business. we keep going back.

Have been here many times & find the food & service are very good. it does cost a bit but it is well worth it every once in a while. hari from above is obviously mixed up as there is no hotel anywhere near the place & the people running it wouldn't know how to be rude if they tried.

. hari mentioned living in a hotel across the street from the star of siam, which is located on a corner. there are no hotels across the street, which ever way you look, from this establishment. think this maybe a dud review

The food was great, the people are nice also, but the meals are just to small for what you are paying. each meal looks like it is set up as an entree for one so you have to order a few to get a good feed.the food was alot hotter than other restarants i have been to but i like that but others did not, maybe that needs to be controlled a little better. empressed with the food but let down big time by the value for money. . . i will be back but feel like im being ripped off

I was living in the hotel across the road from the star of siam,
i was seeing the decent decor every night so i got tempted and went in, big mistake.
the waiteress came in and started asking as though she was taking a police enquiry, no politeness. when i asked what was spicy in the veg menu, back came a rude reply. every one of us thought we shoudl probably walk out but not intending to make a scene we stayed back.
just to confirm our orders again since there was one change of mind in the ordering process, i asked thelady to please repeat the order and it was as thought i had commited a big mistake asking her. i have never been in a ruder place.
the food came in within 10 minutes , and we could not put it in our mouths, it was as spicy as i have never eaten in my life. mind you we were indians and we can tolerate a fair bit of spice and but this was way over board, by the end of the dinner we were sweating and down two bottles of water.
when i went around to pay the bill, i asked to be speak to the owner / manager. the manager came gruntingly and literally turned a deaf ear. while i was talking to him in the most civil manner what had just happened he just walked away.
talk of adding insult to injury, this must surely be our worst restaraunt experience ever. the next day i went out with other friends "local from launceston" and told them about our horrific experience and they were all regretful that they did not tell us about "star of siam" as in the past they had order jumble ups and inordinate delays with bad service too.
in all i have never been to a restarant with worse service. i have a strong feeling she made the food unbearably hot on purpose.
