 Great food, pity about the coffee & sourpuss

Extensive menu filled with a range of authentic, rustic italian dishes. the first thing that struck me when i literally walked in off the street one night, not ever having heard a thing about the restaurant, was the amazing smell! i knew the food would be good, and i wasn't disappointed. i ordered the entree of turkish bread that came with a home-made tomato dip. simple, but yummy. for mains i had a delicious crepe dish with a tomato & three cheese sauce. again, simple, but tasty. my coffee (this time) was commendable, being a coffee 'snob' (as my friends say) i complimented them on their quality - it had a decent micro foam. you can imagine my dismay when the next visit brought a burnt inexcusably unpalatable coffee with a fluffy, whispy foam. i had to send it back. the waitress was surly and couldn't crack a smile. we had to constantly seek her attention, rather than her asking occasionally if we were alright. it was a shame, because it was the first time i'd bought my partner there and i'd told him it was a great place. i ordered the steak on this occasion, and to be honest i can cook a better steak dinner. won't make that mistake again. i'm about to go there tonight with dad. hope the service and food are back to the initial standard i enjoyed. the prices are attractive, so that's a positive. we'll see.....

The so called italian food "expert" that didn't enjoy his/her experience at spaghi should have his/her tastebuds tested. better yet, if he/she hadn't been so keen on critiquing the place they probably would have enjoyed it more. we had a wonderful dinner in a friendly atmospere and will return again and again.

Spaghi is over-rated

A few friends recommended that i try spaghi when visiting perth. the food was generally mediocre at best (lasagne was tasteless but they insisted that was the way they have done it for over 20 years..). given my long experience with good italian food, i didn't find the dishes particularly outstanding. service was lacking further compounded by arrogant owners (just because they have been around for over 20 years as they claim). the poor waiters had to consult with the lady boss on everything, including whether to seat their customers. they do not accept reservations and require that every customer must arrive before they consider seating customers - funny how that work as the restaurant was hardly full on that friday! if you must have italian in perth, find another restaurant!
