Every year about november as the weather heats up i find myself giving this venue another go hoping and almost praying it's improved. every year going on probably 12 years now i find myself extremely disappointed. about 1 week ago my wife went down to crounlla for fish and chips. i had the grilled dory with chips and greek salad (greek salad extra 60c) and my wife had the grilled fish burger. i ended up politely returning both items to the anger of the manager who basically threw a $10 note at me and told me to get out.(the total meal cost was $25) my dory could be eaten in two bites and was half the size of the dory in the window (for $15 i expect a decent size of fish) the chips were cold and burnt and the greek salad contained salad, dressing and two pieces of capcicum. (no olives, no cheese, no tomato, no cucumber) my wifes burger contained a flat over cooked piece of fish, a cheap bun, some ugly lettuce and two ends of tomato (the pieces you throw away when cutting up a tomato + cold burnt chips. on my comments the manager stated in frustration that it was busy and that is why the chips are burnt and cold, he stated that the tomato ends were just luck of the draw and he despite showing the size difference in the dory tried to tell me that this was a full size piece. after this abysmal meal and the attitude and aggression shown by the manager i certainly will never eat here again and i propose that others stay away as well. for all i can tell the only reason this place stays in business is its amazing location.. lets hope for new management one day!

Note to 'nathaniel' - i think you either were stoned or must have been to a fish shop in another city. the food at south beach seafoods is superb. we have eaten there many times and had food ranging from a simple fish and chips to huge family platters to feed 6. everything was always fresh and extremely tasty. i have been to 5 star restaurants that have seafood of less quality than south beach seafoods.

For such a magnificient location, i thought the food prices were very acceptable. the staff were very friendly and helpful with directions around the local area, etc.
i think people who have also commented were expecting a 5 star meal... it's a fish and chip shop, not a gourmet meal! i thought the level of food served was delicious and just what we wanted after a swim at the beach. grilled food was superb and kids loved the fish cocktails and calamari. i'll be back!!

Grilled fish was not fresh, and the battered fish still had scales of it. soggy chips, oily fish. pitty the food is so bad for such a great loctation. will never eat there again!

Grilled food was cooked to perfection, fried cocktails and prawn cutlets were great and older staff were incredibly helpful. price was a bit high, but for the speed of delivery on such a busy day, their work was commendable.

decided to get some fish & chips for 3 where we ordered 2 snack packs & 3 scollops & 2 fish cocktails & 2 cans of soft drink = $35.90.
food portion sizes were very minimal for the cost. chips & scollops were oily, bland & tasted like cardboard. it was overcrowded & smokey. didn't eat all of it and had to get some dessert elsewhere to fill us up, as it wasn't a meal. definately wouldn't recommend it, never again!!

Barramundi overcooked, dry,tasteless,grey.chips recooked-hard,oily. prawn cutlets overcooked & oily. all served cold - salad was edible. never again!
