First and last visit
|
Stopped by this restaurant on our way into melbourne from interstate. food was definitely not authentic chinese cuisine. dishes were badly cooked and tasted awful. hot and sour soup was this big blob of stickiness. hot and sour pork was no better. will not go back. waitress was also rude.

First and definitely only visit.

I went here for the first time tonight. i will definitely not be going again.
dining with someone who regularly eats at chinese restaurants wherever she goes, i can safely say that at least three out of five of our starters were pulled out of a packet and microwaved, despite being told the dim sims were home made. the san choi bao tasted like dog food smells, as well as being a third of the serve you would generally expect.
the special fried rice tasted like nothing, was very skimpy on the pork and egg, and had the texture of food reheated multiple times. the singapore noodles were average in taste, but so oily that when the bowl was tilted to the side, one or two tablespoons formed a little pool at the bottom.
and those were just the notable dishes. everything else was extremely average. in general, our server was unenthusiastic, and our meal came to approximately $80--for that price we could have travelled to the city by train and had our pick of reliable, cheap, authentic chinese cuisine.
will not be going here again.

25 year regular customer
|
Long time customer of the business. always great service, food is a bit boring, unadventurous 1970's standard australian/chinese fare. place has looked the same for over 20 years apart from changing the apricot paint to really poorly applied red paint about 8-10 years ago. needs a revamp to drag it into the 21st century and be more adventurous and guenuine in menu choices while maintaining the tried and true. staff are always great!!!
