A group of us attended (17) samuels to celebrate an occasion. only given a choice of the tasting menu at $69 per person. all of the meals served were "pretty" but left the taste in the kitchen. portion sizes were very small, this would have been good if the quality was there, it wasn't. choice of chicken or beef for main, chicken dry and without any inherent flavour, steak cooked to blue (not asked for for serving preference) and then served cold. my wife ordered the steak but was delivered the chicken and was rudely informed that she had in fact ordered the chicken and that was what she would be getting!!
overall presentation of the restaurant was good however the air conditioning had broken down "sometime prior to christmas" and had not yet been fixed! not good on a 35 degree night with no fans or air.
will not be back and would not recommend to others.

My wife and i live in "the shire" but given the derth of good restaurants in that are we usually head to sydney or some of the other suburbs. one day we decided to head south for a change and stumbled across samuel's. what a find! we had the degustation menu with matched wines. the food was brilliant, the service 5 star and the cost (for both of us) was what it would have cost for one to get a similar experience in sydney (hence the 3 star on price - it was excellent value). there aren't many good restaurants in "the gong" (god knows we've looked) but this is far and away the best we have found. hope they don't change a thing (except the menu every now and then...lol)

As a resident of wollongong, my partner and i frequently drive to sydney to dine due to the lack of quality restaurants in the local area. samuels is the one and only restaurant that offers quality dining is the wollongong area. fantastic service and perfect sized portions. we had the de degustaci?n with matching wines, absolutely lovely.

We had great hopes for this place, as friends had recommended it. sadly while the food was well presented, the dishes were uninspired. none of the dishes we tried was well-balanced or original - either in ingredients, texture or flavour. given the prices this was disappointing. we have ordered snacks from the bar next door since and had the same experience. so, while we love to eat out and now live locally we would never bother to go back.

My husband and i recently moved to the area and are thrilled to have such a perfect little local to frequent. the staff are friendly, the portion sizes are a little too large ( i hate to see waste) but absolutely delicious and the atmosphere while loud, very cosy! we have been every week for the last 5 weeks!

This restaurant was recommended but turned out to be poor value. the drinks were small, the portion size ridiculously small but the price reflected a quality venue. never again!

Nice to find a local estaurant which is innovative with an interesting menu, great waiting staff who are knowledgeable and just the ight amonut of attention. great idea for veg prsentation - choose your own sides! good mid week deals!
