I wanted to treat my three kids to an after school snack, asked for 4 potatoe cakes. $5.20 they cost me, which i think is very expensive but wouldn't complain if they were value for money. they came out swimming in fat that it leaked out of the box all over the seat of my car. the potatoe was so thin and not even cooked. it tasted like drinking from a bottle of oil. all the kids didn't like them, so i took them back into the shop and told the staff member i had some feedback. i told her they were going directly in the rubbish bin, and told her why. she just said ok no worries. no apology and no refund. and my kids didn't get their after school snack. if the staff were nice about it and had have refunded my money i may have gone back on another occasion (though not to buy the potatoe cakes). it might have been a small order but how hard is it to get a potatoe cake right? i will not be going back to this shop ever again and i will tell everyone i know. the power of 'word of mouth' will do justice in the end.

The first and last time i visited salt n battered, was a saturday night on 15th october, i was completely and utterly horrified at the way the shop was run. i saw every single worker in that shop duck behind the kitchen bench to eat food, then directly wrap the food, touch change all without changing their gloves. the food i received was the worst take away i have ever bought, as well as the most expensive. the serving size was terrible and we were missing our calamari. the fish was drenched in oil and tasted as if it had been sitting there for half an hour. i'd also like to know how long the chicken was sitting in the warmer- burnt on the outside and soggy and cold in the middle. the service was well below average, i understand many of the workers there are younger and inexperienced, but i did not enjoy watching the kids chat and stand around whilst i was waiting at the counter. i don't think i will be coming back to salt n battered anytime soon, without a drastic change of customer service, possibly a new manager!

The food is cooked to order so you sometimes have to wait but is a high quality. the staff are young people who work under hot conditions and presure and have to deal with some very rude members of the public as we all do who work in customer service. they do a fantastic job!!!!

The food is amazingly good and the crumbed cod is really well worth your money very yummy fish, generally does'nt fall apart either the crumbs actually stik, the food is always fresh and perfectly cooked 100/100 on everything.... this is a must try. oh and the crumnbed sausages.... all i can say is "finally food worth eating" highly recomended!!! nice work salt n battered i will be a customer for many years to come as will my family.

Great food, occassionaly good service. there are a few slack employees that shuv your food at you and turn away, a few great that will talk to you and make you smile.
enjoy coming to salt n battered as its convenient and great food. have watched the place change, witnessed good nights and bad nights, good staff and bad ones, but it has never been worse. never usualy complain ever: but on sunday 15/8, why was there a screaming baby in the shop? and the place smelt revolting, one girl maybe 17 was working hard cooking serving running the place, while the other older 20-25 was walking around and drinking coke and playing with the screaming baby.
how does that work?
i felt sorry for the young girl.

Food is never consistant,service and manners also are poor,chips are average,chicken is utterly ferel which it sits in the hot box all day(tastes like 5 days)the fresh fish is fine,not a patch on a good fish n chip shop,eg the boat shed at scarborough,the very best around.my rating is 6/10

I work in the locality of the store and have found the food and service quite good. a lot of our workers get their lunches from here because they get good servings and its always fresh. the fish & chip servings are substantial and the burgers taste like real burgers. thumbs up from me. :d

We are pleased with this shop its clean and the staff are wonderful we since relocated to drception bay and still order outr cips from there they have great deals the hamburger chips and drink is a wonderful deal thank u for your chips they are the best and keep up good work

In my opinion it is absolutely the best fis and chip shop ever. i would want my kids to work there. the staff are very friendly and may i say the service was ideal. i dont know what the people above are smoking.

Well chump. firstly, you werent there at the time when the fish was dropped, so i find it hard to understand what leg you are trying to stand on in saying that it was an "exsaduration". secondly, junior staff have no excuse whatsoever to have attitude or leaving out items from such a simple meal. its seriously not rocket science. its fish and chips. besides, thats what employee training is for.
by the way you have written your review it tells me you are either a junior yourself or someone with the intelligence of a junior. (immiture, exsaduration).
perhaps you eat too much fish and chips? who knows?
this place was intended to leave a review about the restaurant, in which i have done so. i will not eat there again. it was not worth the polystyrene plate it was served on.

Lol, lies don't get your story read any faster than the truth would. be realistic she wouldn't have dropped your fish on the floor and asked you if you wanted a new one, a slight over exsaduartion there. second of all grow a set and actually go into the store and complain, to those below this immiture loser go in and actually tell someone your complaint. as for the junior staff for some of them this is only their first job, you try and cook food with out being stressed out and forgetting a few things off orders on a friday night. i find that comment very rich, i have a feeling your one of those naggy customers who complains everywhere they go.
