I can't comment on what was going on in mid 2008 (probably the opposition as some sydney restaurants were caught out doing the same thing to badmouth others) however the night we passed through kalgoorlie it was full of locals, so either their quite dim or it must be ok. i would agree the service was nothing exceptional but the fish & chips were some of the best we've ever had (esp the battered prawns & scallops) & my wife & i have had everything from doyle's in hometown sydney to darwin & in between. as for prices i didn't look at the fresh fish but the fish & chips were cheaper on average than sydney which we didn't expect with all the miners and such. love the site but i don't take it as gospel because it's the night you're at a restaurant (or fish & chips in this case) that counts & most comments lack enough detail. thank you.
