This has to be the best chinese food available in north canberra, the roast duck is always superd and the honey rack of lamb is just stunning. have been going here for years and will continue to keep going.

Food is superb although the decor is a little tired. duck pancakes are excellent as is the egg plant dish. the flavours are authentic and demonstrate a ral fusion. authentic chinese food at its bext. those who knock it haven't eaten authentic chinese food.

 Bland chinese food

I agree with the previous reviewer. i went on a midweek and the place was almost empty. we were a large group and still had to wait ages for our dishes to be brought out. when they finally arrives i couldn't believe how bland everything tasted. there was very little chinese sauce (soy, oyster etc) on the dishes and the quality of vegetables was poor. my first impression was wow, i could make a better tasting dish at home. very disappointed/
then when desert was ordered, i chose from a variety of so-called "fresh cakes delievered from sydney". after ordering mudcake (non-microwaved) and waiting 10 minutes, the waitress came back and said they were out, then when i queried why she initially told me they had it, she said they couldn't provide it non-microwaved. my guess is because the cake was probably frozen and needed to be thawed. if i wanted frozen cake i would have bought my own saralee from the supermarket. i suppose fresh doesn't mean the same thing to everyone.
the dissapointing this is that i used to regularly ordered takeway from this restaurant a few years back and it was quite good. after this recent experience i won't be going back.

We keep going back to the china tea club because the menu changes just fast enough so that some of the great dishes from your last visit are still there. things like the vegetables in curry sauce. best chinese on the northside - by far

Every time i go to the china tea club the food is always great. the service is always to a high standard.
my family have been going to the china tea club for about 10 years and we always leave there happy and very satisfied.
the food is very well priced and i always leave full.
i will continue to go to the china tea club for many years to come

 Most bland chinese food i ever tasted

Dishes took ages to arrive on a midweek evening with only 2 other tables occupied with customers. dishes were bland and really had no flavour at all. sometimes you go into a restaurant and pay for dishes that you know you can do much better on at home - this place was one of them on this occassion. i visited a few years ago and the dishes were great, not sure what has happened since then.
