Simple, great tasting food
|
I wasn't impressed by reviews dating back a few years, but cafe pronto is under new management - and it works.
i enjoyed my meal, and award four stars in all areas - only because there should always be room for improvement.
i felt welcome as soon as i stepped in the door around midday. friendly service without being invasive.
i was invited to select my own table, and within moments i was given a bottle of cold water with a glass of ice. the ice was a nice touch, especially with summer coming on.
i chose "tuffy in a suit" - two large sausages with cheese sauce, saute'd potatoes and a garden salad, colourful and very attractively arranged on the plate.
i didn't time how long it took to get my food, but it was perhaps several minutes. about the time it takes to cook a couple of large thick sausages.
i'm looking forward to returning to the cafe pronto - maybe with a few friends - to try their dinner menu.

Avoid this place

My boyfriend and i felt like a cheap and easy night out for pizza and a beer so we visited cafe pronto friday night approx. 8:30pm. we were greeted by the waitress who we asked if the restaurant was byo. we also asked if it was byo beer also. we were told that byo both beer and wine was fine. we went across the road to the bottle shop and brought back 6 beers. once we sat and ordered we were advised by the same waitress that beer was not byo. she explained she had given us the wrong information and would charge a $4 corkage fee. we negotiated a $2 corckage fee due to the misunderstanding. there was only 1 other couple in the restaurant and they were eating when we sat down. we waited over 30 minutes for our pizzas. they were tasty but the base was sloppy. during our meal all of the tables and chairs were moved for cleaning. when we were finished all the wait staff had left and we had to wait another 10 minutes for the bill. we asked the owner? for our remaining 2 beers to take with us. he seemed very intoxicated and told us he didn't know anything about our two beers. after trying to put 2 empty beer bottles in my boyfriends jacket pocket, we finally got him to go and look for our beers. we checked the bill and we had been charged $6 corkage. when we pointed this out to him he told us that we were not allowed to bring beer to this restaurant. he became quite aggresive and seemed quite drunk. we paid, left and will never return. not recommended.
